It started with a simple frustration.
I've always wanted to be someone who helps people.
Not in a grand, world-changing way. Just in the everyday ways that matter.
Buy someone's groceries. Help someone who is struggling. Spend time with someone who's lonely. Pay for someone's meal. Show up when someone needs a hand.
The problem is that wanting to help and actually having the time to help are two very different things.
Like a lot of people, I have a job, a family, bills, responsibilities, and a calendar that seems to fill itself. I would see opportunities to help people and think, "I'd love to do something about that," only to realize that I had somewhere else I needed to be.
And that bothered me.
I started wondering:
What if helping people was actually our job?
What if instead of trying to squeeze acts of kindness into whatever free time we could find, we could dedicate our working hours to looking for people who need a little help and doing something about it?
That's where this idea began.
Then I thought about someone close to me.
Someone very close to me is one of the kindest and most genuine people I've ever known.
Issues that this individual cannot control, have made traditional employment difficult for this person. Holding down a conventional job hasn't always been easy, despite having a huge heart and a genuine desire to contribute.
Watching someone who has so much kindness to give struggle to find a place in the traditional workforce made me think about what we consider "work."
What if the qualities that make someone a great human being could also be valuable in a job?
That question changed the idea for me.
Maybe there are people who don't fit neatly into the traditional workforce but would be incredible at making other people's lives better.
Maybe we could build something around that.
So that's what we're trying to do.
We're starting small.
The goal is to build a sustainable business that allows us to spend our working lives doing something we believe matters: helping people.
Our members make that possible.
For a small monthly membership, you become part of a group of people who want to do more good but don't always have the time, opportunity, or ability to do it themselves.
We take that responsibility seriously.
We'll use our time to find opportunities to help, and we'll tell our members what their support made possible.
But we're not going to film people's difficult moments.
We're not going to turn someone's hardship into content.
And we're not going to do good just so someone can see us doing it.
More Good. Less Glory.
That's the idea.
We're not sure exactly how far this can go.
But we're excited to find out.
And if we can build a life for ourselves while spending our days making someone else's life a little better, we'll consider that a pretty good way to make a living.
